Why online shops should shift to digital forms
Filipinos’ shopping behaviors have changed over the past years amid the pandemic, with many consumers now wanting their products delivered directly to their doorstep compared to traditional in-store purchases.
The Philippine e-commerce sector is expected to continue its momentum with 17% growth or $24 billion through 2025, data from the International Trade Administration showed.
In 2021, over a year into the pandemic, the industry’s market sales amounted to $17 billion. Active online users in the period also reached 73 million as smartphone household penetration went up by 2% to 74.1% last year.
“The COVID-19 pandemic increased the eCommerce demand, with Filipinos working and studying from home. The working population (25-44) actively access these platforms from their desktop and mobile phones,” the International Trade Administration said.
The report also noted that e-commerce giants Shopee, Lazada, Zalora, and BeautyMNL continue to dominate the sector. The top product categories include beauty, electronics, fashion, furniture, health, and household care.
While these four have already established their presence, social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok have also opened doors for Filipino sellers to reach more customers.
And with the emergence of more shops in the e-commerce market, how can a brand stay ahead of the competition?
Local online retailers must push for paperless forms to provide a seamless shopping experience for their customers, from placing orders to deliveries.
Aside from their orders, collecting consumers’ personal information using the traditional approach can be tedious and overwhelming, especially if a business handles a huge volume of transactions.
Using a digital form, gathering and processing data will be faster. A digital form is an electronic version of paper forms used to collect data, such as name, contact details, address, and comments for a product purchase.
Not only will it save businesses time, but it will also cut additional costs as digital forms do not require operational expenses for paper, printers, and cartridges. In addition, since the data will be available online, businesses, especially those operating on multiple sites, will encounter no problem accessing and rerouting them.
The holiday season is fast approaching, and businesses expect consumer spending to skyrocket, especially in the latter part of the year leading to the Christmas holiday.
